Morgan {family portraits}

I enjoy being able to capture those split-second moments in time that capture your family just as you are. It is truly one of the joys of this job, I never tire of hearing families get excited over an expression or moment that was so fleeting, they didn’t think I was able to capture – but I have. When I met up with this family last week, sweet Miss Gwen was not feeling her best, but with mom getting ready to deploy overseas, we had to just work with it. And with a little creativity, and some bribery (rock throwing, anyone?) we managed to capture some really great pictures of this sweet family!

Sydney {Adna Senior Portraits}

Sydney is one of my fabulous senior reps, and photographing her this year has been so much fun! She has great ideas, is up for pretty much anything, and is just a lot of fun to be around. One conversation with this girl and you know there are big things in her future!

Stevie {Centralia senior portraits}

Do you ever avoid something, hoping that if you don’t say it aloud, it won’t be true? That’s a little how I feel about my blogging my brother’s senior portraits. Maybe, just maybe, if I don’t talk about them and him and how darn old he’s getting, he will stop growing so much taller than me! He called me out for not posting something after we did the first round, so I knew I couldn’t get out of it with the second. See, here is the thing about my brother… he’s a pain. In the rear. And, those of you who have little brothers (or perhaps sisters) are nodding. Yes, of course he is. He’s suppose to be a pain. That, I’ve heard (and surmised from my own experiences) is the job of a younger sibling. To tease, antagonize, and be a general stinker. I think he doesn’t have much choice, what with the three older siblings that he’s stuck with. But the thing? I wouldn’t change our dynamic for anything. Under all of the things that we do to one another, that drive our parents nuts, is the fact that we do it because we love each other. Spraying him with the hose? How I show him I love him. Covering my car windows with polka dots? Love, again. Twisted, silly, I-can-pick-on-you-but-no-one-else-can love. There is no one else that knows me, and is therefore allowed to pick on me, like my siblings.

So, littlest but still taller than me brother, here’s to you! I cannot believe you are graduating, even if you only get to move 15 minutes away, and I look forward to seeing what your future holds.

Ericca {outdoor maternity portraits}

As things happened, earlier this month I was with my family in eastern Washington and my sweet cousin was in need of maternity pictures! We found the perfect spot in the little town of Wilbur, and one of the most magical sessions unfolded before my eyes! Ericca and her family have never had family pictures done, so what a better time then while they were awaiting the arrival of their son Zander?! As I was driving to the session, I was disappointed that the sun was no where to be found, but about 20 minutes into our session, the sky got super dark and then was lit up over and over by lightning. It was quite a way in the distance (right over “home” for the weekend) but left the most beautiful backdrop for our evening.

I always enjoy spending time with Ericca and her family. Her kids are super cute, great helpers with sweet personalities. They radiate God’s love and grace, and not a one of them knows how to smile just a little or stifle a laugh. They live life to the fullest, with a faith that inspires me. Please be praying for sweet baby Zander, who made his appearance last weekend and will be spending a little extra time in the hospital before going home. I cannot wait for him to be better so I can go visit!
