Day 28 {LANDON in FEBRUARY}

{I have decided to take at least one picture a day of Landon, for the whole month of February in celebration of his birth month. I am stealing this idea from Kerianne Brown, a fantastic photographer.}

Look at the happy patient! Today we had Landon’s 12 month check-up, and all is well! He weighs 19 pounds and is 27.2 inches tall, and is meeting all of the major milestones. He is always so intrigued by the doctor’s office. The paper on the exam table use to irritate him, but now he happily sits on it (and didn’t try to tear at it once today!) There are lots of new things to look at, people to watch, and the exam always makes me laugh because he’s trying to grab everything that the doctor and nurse have. Even though by the chart he is only in the 5th percentile (weight) and below the 3rd (height), I look at this picture and see a happy, healthy baby with chunky thighs and a sweet, chubby cheeked face.

Today is the last day of February, and therefore the last day of this project for now. I am so incredibly glad that I did this, even though some days were easier than others. I am looking forward to making these into a collage for Landon’s bedroom wall, and finding a way to attach the journaling from each day to the back, so years from now he can look back at this and see how adored he is and learn a little about what being one year old was like.

Day 27 {LANDON in FEBRUARY}

{I have decided to take at least one picture a day of Landon, for the whole month of February in celebration of his birth month. I am stealing this idea from Kerianne Brown, a fantastic photographer.}

This is some of the aftermath of your first birthday party. As I look across the living room, I see little wooden alphabet blocks, balloons and balls as far as the eye can see. And you could not be more happy. You were so worn out last night, you slept all night without so much as a peep. And today, you woke ready to play, play, play!

3 People 12 Times {FEBRUARY}

To read more about 3 People 12 Times or see last month’s, go here. This month, we waited to take our family picture until Landon’s first birthday. What a special day.

February went by so fast. Landon learned to walk, now takes baths in the big bathtub, and then yesterday we celebrated his birthday. Such a fun, bittersweet day. It is so hard to believe that a whole year has gone by, not to mention that you have gone from being 4 pounds 11 ounces to over 20 pounds! I even got out one of your newborn pajama sleepers just to remind myself how little you were and how far you’ve come! And just the other day, you learned to give kisses! Talk about melt a mama’s heart! You are Mr. Personality, and I know we will have our hands full very, very soon! As I type, Kris is two weeks away from being done with his BA. It has been a long road, one that started before we met, but people, he’s only two weeks away! I am so proud of him for sticking with it, especially this last year. That said, I cannot wait for him to be done. Not only will we have more time with him, but the Honey-Do lit I have for him is somewhere near three miles long. It’s amazing all the stuff that needs doing or fixing or upgrading in a house built in 1920. It’s going to be a busy summer. And I have just been doing the usual. Being home with Landon most days, working on stuff for our downtown and keeping busy with pictures. I embarked on a Photo-A -Day of Landon for the last 26 days, and I am so glad I did. I have two days left to finish, and then a rad collage to put together. It has been fun to document all the stuff he does, and I look forward to doing this every February with him. I am so thankful to have such a supportive family and great clients. I am looking forward to spring weather (as it snows outside again), two trips I have planned next month and my brother being back in the States very, very soon.

*about 5 hours after I posted this, my brother called to say he was home from Afghanistan. I was thinking it would be a week or longer, so after writing “very, very soon” above, I guess I was right!*

Day 26 {LANDON in FEBRUARY}

{I have decided to take at least one picture a day of Landon, for the whole month of February in celebration of his birth month. I am stealing this idea from Kerianne Brown, a fantastic photographer.}

whew. what a day! As I sat here editing the pictures from today, I think I’m almost as worn out today as I was one year ago :) of course that day, I had some morphine to help me along. Well, love, you had one heck of a birthday. It started with the muffin and candle you see above (which you were not really interested in, of course), then to breakfast with family which you ate and enjoyed much more of. After a few naps and some outfit changes, it was time for the PARTY! After dinner, opening awesome presents, your cupcake (which you were equally not really thrilled with) and a bath, we read your new book On The Night You Were Born (fabulous book, loved it) and I put you to sleep. As I was feeding you, I was thinking back to a year ago, about how much you’ve grown and changed, about how scared Dad and I were when you were so small and needed so much help, and how thankful I was to be the one feeding and snuggling you tonight, in contrast to one year ago when I was stuck in bed and you were in the Special Care Nursery. Oh, how far we have come. Another thing that struck me was how much love you are surrounded by. After watching everyone delight in each funny thing you did today, I know you will grow up knowing without a doubt that you are special and loved, and that’s really all I needed today.

Day 25 {LANDON in FEBRUARY}

{I have decided to take at least one picture a day of Landon, for the whole month of February in celebration of his birth month. I am stealing this idea from Kerianne Brown, a fantastic photographer.}

Every day you just get bigger and older and more fun to hang out with! Tomorrow is your Big Day, and we spent the day getting ready for it…getting all the fixins for tacos, got your hair cut, picked up cupcake supplies and party hats, and you enjoyed this sugar cookie while we were doing out grocery shopping. By the end of the trip, you were one cute, tired, cookie-covered mess!
