Birthday recap: the best gift I’ve gotten in a while!

About a month ago I spotted a little something in Real Simple Magazine, that I knew I had to have. It is called a Clairsonic, and it looks like:

What is it, you ask? It’s a face brush. Yep, a face brush.

Let me back up a bit. I’m a girly girl, and I’m not afraid to say it. I love manicures, pedicures, massages and facials. When I was single and living in Seattle, I had this great estetican in Magnolia who gave great facials. Since moving down to Centralia, I have yet to find a suitable replacement, and this little beauty is touted to be like a weekly facial.

Ok, so back to that fateful day reading Real Simple. It was lust at first sight. First off, it’s PINK! Second, it was going to make me look prettier? Say no more! I hoped I’d be getting some birthday funds to purchase this little beauty, but knew that I wasn’t going to find it anywhere local. So, during my little daytrip to Seattle, I swung by Sephora (love) and got this little somethin’ somethin’. for myself. (as a side note, which explains part of the reason I love Sephora so much, I got 3 free little lipglosses for my birthday, and a free Bare Escentuals BUXOM mascara with my purchase!)

I’ve used it for three days now, and I adore it. Love it. Lust fulfilled. My face is soft, smooth, and dry-skin free! Want to know more? Check it out at http://www.clarisonic.com/.

Birthday recap: Seattle

It was my birthday last weekend, and I had a fantastic weekend celebrating 25 (gasp, that is a quarter of a century) years of life. On Friday, I spent several hours in Seattle, bumming around with Dionne. We started at Pike’s Place, with the intention of wandering and taking pictures. I think I can finally say I’ve been there enough times that I still love to shop and smell and eat, but I’m lacking the inspiration to take pictures. Then I picked up a little somethin’ somethin’ for myself at Westlake Center (that post is coming tomorrow). After that we headed over to Fremont and had a fabulous dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Jai Thai. MMM. Yellow curry, pad thai, spring rolls, a coconut drink…need I say more? Thanks Dionne, for a great kickoff to my birthday weekend!

Now a few pictures from Pike’s Place:

coming tomorrow: some pictures and a review of that little somethin’ I picked up for myself in Seattle.

Bread dough

noknead_bread01

It’s been a while since I’ve blogged about something that I’ve baked or cooked. My obsession lately has been bread, particularily no-knead bread. The great thing about no-knead bread is that you can make a little or a lot, and it is super simple. I usually follow this recipe here, and add an extra 1/2 tsp. of salt, and 3 tsp. of agave syrup (or honey).

The thing that I found last week, that has quite possibly changed our grocery buying habits, is this recipe. It truly is what it claims…5 minute bread.  The dough is made and can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Mine has been around for about a week, and after our dinner tonight, is over half gone. You can make a loaf of bread out of this, but we’ve been making dinner rolls each night, that are still warm and toasty when we sit down to eat. Last night was my birthday, and we had pasta. I made rolls to go with, and added garlic and rosemary to mine. Talk about delish!

Tonight, we decided to have hamburgers, but didn’t have any buns. But, we did have dough!

I took it out, shaped it up, and let them rest. Then it was into the oven on my preheated Pampered Chef baking stone, until they were done. I like my buns toasted, so I convined hubby to throw them on the BBQ with the burgers at the end, and…

Then we piled our rolls-like buns with our fixins, and dinner was served:

And the verdict: these pseudo-buns were far and away better than the store bought kind. We won’t be buying rolls or buns at the store anytime in the near future.

As we finish up January…

…this is your final chance to book a session at my old prices. On January 29th, while I am celebrating with my sister in Reno (she turned 21 in December), my new prices and info will become effective. I am SO SO SO excited for all the new things on the horizon for me and my clients, and cannot wait to hear the feedback about all the new products and the new exciting creative venture I am starting!

Anyone who books between a session between now and the 28th (session can be for anytime in 2009) will qualify for a little extra (I can’t spill the beans yet, but everyone I show this little goodie to falls in love!)

And what is a blogpost without a picture…

…this is a storyboard from my 5 month old session Friday. This little cutie is my grandmother’s only great-grandchild (as she reminded me ever-so-helpfully yesterday), and I cannot quit looking at these pictures!
