Day 25 {LANDON in FEBRUARY}

{Here we are – hard to believe I’ve been doing this for so long (and hard to believe also that I’ve got an almost-seven year old)!!! I got my start doing this when I decided to take at least one picture a day of Landon, for the whole month of February in celebration of his birth month. I borrowed this idea from Kerianne Brown, a fantastic photographer. Over the years, this compilation of pictures has become one of my most cherished possessions.}

Today on the way home from dinner I started to reminisce about your birth, and after looking up some pictures online to tell you exactly what time you were born, we were looking through the images from your birth. Some made you scratch your head (“mom, why did Dionne take this picture of Pepsi, snickers and quarters?”) and some, like this one you were looking at, intrigued you while simultaneously grossing you out. It was really fun to hear you remark about how tiny you were, and to talk about why you ended up taking the quick route of my tummy – and where our belly buttons come from!

You are very lucky to have another great teacher this year! You really have blossomed in Mrs. Haskins’ class – I think you respond well to her positive attitude and clear boundaries (both things you need!) She shared with me that she loves how you start a lot of mornings by telling her “why today is going to be the best day ever”.

The debate was a hard one… on one hand, any snow day is a good day to a 6 year old. On the other, missing the day you were suppose to have cupcakes at school would be pretty heartbreaking! We did get to see a few snowflakes fall, but thankfully they didn’t stick around and cupcakes were had by all!

There are things you can count on in life. Taxes. Rain in Washington. And gettin’ fed at Granny’s house! I’m surprised that she even had to ASK if you wanted noodle soup… I think you’d happily live on it, especially there, without batting an eyelash!

Always a riot with you two – not just funny, but literally trying to get a holding still picture of you two is much like herding cats (adorable cats, but still!) I always just hope and pray we get some keepers, maybe with a head swap or two…. imagine my delight when our wrangling, begging and bribing today rewarded us with THIS shot!
